ASIAN-PACIFIC ASTRONOMY OLYMPIAD

From November 22 to December 2, 2018 the Kazakhstan team successfully participated on the Asian-Pacific Astronomy Olympiad (APAO), which was held in Lijiang, China. The team consisted of 8 students: Ghulam Ramin, Vedeneyev Artem, Kasenov Sultan – 10th grade pupils of the “Self-knowledge” gymnasium of the NSPEHC “Bobek”, Lesbek Baimyrza – 10th grade student of the RFMSH, Orazkhan Haydar – 9th grade student of NISH FMN, and Begasilova Nurai, Ospanova Aliya and Kaspakova Ayym – students of the 9th grade of the RFMS. The team was accompanied by two leaders: Beissen Nurzada – the coach of the team and a member of the jury of the international Olympiad and Kabdyshev Janerken – a teacher of the gymnasium “Self-knowledge”.

Orazkhan Khaidar went around his rivals and showed not only the best result in theory and practice, but also achieved the highest result in all three rounds of the Olympics.

Chairman of the APAO M.G. Gavrilov presented a silver medal and a diploma of the II degree to Orazkhan Khaidar, and a bronze medal and a diploma of the third degree was received by Ospanova Aliya.

At the award, the guys raised the flag of Kazakhstan. This is a very important and exciting moment in the life of every person. It should be particularly noted that the award ceremony took place on December 1, 2018, a holiday for all of Kazakhstan, and the students dedicated their achievements to the Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
