INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL OLYMPIAD

From 06 to 14 October 2018, the International Astronomical Olympiad for schoolchildren was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. At the invitation of the Organizing Committee of the International Astronomical Olympiad, the team of Kazakhstan took part in this event.

Our team included: Beisen Nurzada – member of the jury, translator, Director of the Observatory of the NSPEHC “Bobek”; Ershina Aynakul – professor of the faculty of physics and mathematics of the Kazakh Pedagogical University; Amangeldi Islam – 10th grade student of the RFMS; Daniil Dragunov – a pupil of the 8th form of the gymnasium “Self-knowledge”; Asgharuly Mahauya – a pupil of the 8th grade of the gymnasium “Self-knowledge”; Ruslanuly Anuar – 10th grade student of the RFM,; Artyom Fartygin – student of the 10th grade of the Lyceum of LORD, Petropavlovsk.

94 participants from 18 countries of the world arrived in Colombo. Pupils went through three challenging rounds of the Olympiad.

Successes of the team “KAZAKHSTAN-BOBEC”:

A bronze medal was received by a pupil of the 10th grade of the RFMS, from Almaty, Amangeldi Islam.
